President's Letter
December is here and that means it is time for our annual Holiday Party. This year's party will be extra special because we will celebrate our 30th birthday. Do you have a quilt that you made in 1986? I know I have a UFO from 1986 that is still waiting to be finished! Can you believe it?!? I can, I'm a great starter but not a finisher. I'll bring it for show and tell, please bring yours, finished or unfinished. It will be fun. I can say I'll try to finish mine before the meeting but I've got some other projects that I need to start before then. See, I told you I'm a great starter!
For new members, please don't be afraid to ask if there is something that we forget to explain. We exchange blocks every year in December. Participation is optional. If you'd like to take part, make a block that is 12 1/2" cut so it will finish 12" square. They're usually holiday themed and you can sign and date it if you'd like. Wrap it and we'll have a fun exchange. Oh, yes, and there's no limit to the number of blocks that you want to exchange. For each one you bring, you'll take one home.
I'm early but I hope all of you have a happy, safe, and healthy holiday season.

- If you are founding member - please email me at robin_mcmillen@yahoo.com and let me know if you will be at the meeting in December.
- Where were you in 1986 - think back. We will celebrate all things from 1986 with some really fun games with prizes you do not want to miss. (I bet you all even have some clothes in the Closet from the 80s - Shoulder pads and plastic earrings anyone?)
- If you have a project you made in 1986 (or around then) please bring it to show - we would love to see how quilting styles have changed
- Don't forget your signed 12 1/2 inch Christmas Block for the block exchange. Make sure it is wrapped. When you turn in your block you will receive a number for the swap.
- We will also have holiday tunes and birthday cake. You won't want to miss it.
January Meeting:
Due to a scheduling conflict we will need to move Kelly Meanix's trunk show to another meeting however, I am working on a few ideas for January and as soon as they are solidified I will have Kelly send out an email.

How many years ago did you start quilting? I started quilting 38 years ago. Right after I got married and moved to Chester County, I was fascinated with the history of the area, including quilting. My first class was at Boscov's with Dot Key as teacher.
What is your favorite part of the quilting process? I think my favorite part of the process is choosing a pattern and fabrics. When I started quilting, I felt I had to make the project in the same colors as the sample. Over the years, I've forced myself to "think outside the box."
What is your favorite color? Oh, boy! That's a tough question! Long ago, I loved red and green together in a quilt, especially appliqué quilts. Then I moved to my pink and pastel phase. I still like pink and pastels but lately I've been leaning toward happy, bright, fun colors, especially lime green.
How many quilts do you think you have made? I've got the same answer as everyone else...not really sure. Wish I kept a quilt journal! I've given away more quilts than I've kept.
What is your next project? My father-in-law died two years ago. I was given some of his ties and I'd like to make 3 small wallhangings, for my mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law.
Tell us something the members may want to know about yourself. I've been happily married to my college sweetheart and best friend for 38 years and we have four sons. I was a systems analyst (computer programmer) for GE (now Lockheed) for several years before I became a stay-at-home mom.
Quilt Show Updates
Please remember your mini quilts~ we do this instead of making a large raffle quilt and encourage everyone to participate. Size is to be 16" wide and 24" long. Pick a theme or idea, applique, pieced, embellished the choice is up to you. You may sign and date it or not if you are not comfortable doing so. I will be accepting quilts at every meeting. Make one (or more!), show it at show and tell then hand it to me!

I’ve been sending emails and letters to numerous large companies to provide our Quilt Show with door prizes. Here are the approximately $485 worth of items I’ve received. I have many other commitments, but they tend to send donations closer to the show date. I’ve asked to have them to me or to Jean Fox by February 1, but often they are late. These particular companies like to send before year end. Crossing my fingers the rest will come early.
Carolyn and Jaime and others will covering the Lancaster area.
