President’s Message - Lynn Telson
January is almost gone. That felt fast. We had Emily Taylor,
a collage quilter speak to us. Her work is beautiful.
We had a Zoom glitch so could not do show and tell. But all
of January show and tell will be seen in February.
February meeting will be busy with 2 months of show and
tell, 3 possibly 4 demos and finished
sew along quilts. I request that if you sent a show and tell or sew along quilt
to me that you attend the meeting to speak to us about your quilt.
Nominating Committee: We need to form a committee to present
a new board slate to the membership. I am looking for a few volunteers. Please
contact me through email (lynntelson@gmail.com).
Veterans Quilts: If you have a top that needs quilting, get
it to me and I will quilt it. We are nearing the end of this project. We have
donated over 30 quilts! Thank you to all for making this community outreach
project a success.

Ladies for volunteering. Since the platform is new and many of you have never
presented before on it, we will give you a ton of grace for any malfunctions
that might occur. We will also blame them all on zoom and not you!
In March we
are looking forward to hosting Lori Dickman as she presents “My favorite 3Ds”: A trunk
show of Lori’s favorite “D” quilts! This trunk show features over 30 of Lori’s
quilt designs with styles that will cover every quilter’s favorites: from
traditional to applique to modern and everything in between! ! In this lecture,
Lori will inspire you to pick up those template rulers and have fun designing
and piecing fabulous quilts! Quilting templates have always been Lori’s “go-to”
tools for piecing fast and fun quilts. The Diamond, Dresden & Drunkards’
Path templates are versatile tools which she has used to create literally
dozens of different designs in quilts, accessories & wearable art!
Hello Quilters!
Hopefully we will all be able to get together later this year; the last 9 months have been hard on all of us in different ways. I am happy to pick up and drop off any donations; we continue to work on Chester Bears, Quilts of Valor for Main Line Home Care and Hospice Veterans, masks for PENN Medicine Home Care, food donations for the Honeybrook Food Pantry and pillowcases for A Case for Smiles.
Thanks to all of you for your ongoing support during the pandemic! I look forward to our next “in person” meeting!!

Sampler Sew Along - Kelly Meanix

- We have a new "look and feel" thanks to the wonderful graphics created by Maureen Logan of the Lancaster Modern Quilt Guild and who is also a professional graphic designer.
- Program listings are being updated as the Programs Chair gets signed speaker contracts in this trying time of COVID.
For those of you who didn't sign up to do the two recent Sew Alongs as they were happening, both the 2019 Mystery Quilt and the most recent 2020 Blocks Per Month Sew Along have been posted to the website. Look under: "All About Quilts" --> "Mystery Sew Along 2019" and "Sew Along 2020".

2020 Quilt Guild Challenge - Angela Brant
Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, this is my favorite time of all
Pick a season and make a small quilt or wall hanging that strongly evokes that season
Quilts/wall hangings will be judged by fellow quilt members in several categories:
- Best evokes season
- Best use of color
- Most original
- Best quilting
Basic Rules of the Challenge:
• #1 RULE: HAVE FUN!!! Use your imagination! Your creation can be traditional or contemporary.
• Item Selection: Your challenge must be a small quilt or wall hanging, not a tote bag, pocket book, vest or jacket, etc.
- Finished Size: Your challenge can be any finished size you want.
- • Methods of Construction: You are free to use whatever construction or quilting methods work best for your creation (i.e., machine piece, hand piece, paper piece, machine appliqué, hand appliqué, machine or hand quilt, etc.). We encourage you to challenge yourself and be creative.
• Fabric Requirement: You can use whatever fabrics you want in your challenge. There is also no limit to the total number of fabrics or kinds of fabrics used in your challenge.
• Embellishments: Embellishments are optional.
• Label: Make sure you put a label with your name on the back of your challenge. Give credit to the source that inspired you. Please cover up your label with a piece of paper before handing it in for voting at our guild meeting so it’s a secret as to who made it.
- Due Date: Finished challenges are due at our June, 2020 guild meeting for judging by your quilt guild peers. All guild members attending the meeting will have the opportunity to vote anonymously for their favorite challenge quilt.

Acorn Shoppe Sale Details:
Hi Quilters, I don't know about you but I am really enjoying all the great speakers Jen Burke has scheduled this year. They are informative and inspiring. We need to raise funds in orders to keep that good going. We will hold a Sale in September, last Saturday of that month. At the sale, we will organize merchandise into groups and the proceeds will go to Penn Oaks. There will be the ability to sell premade goods on commission much like we have done in the past at the quilt show. I also want to sell sewing materials, household good, and any other kindly used items around your house that you do not need anymore. So start looking through your home and your stash for items you would like to donate to the guild.
Also, I am looking for someone to assist with publicity. We need to get the word out so we have good turn out. The sale will be at the Mennonite Church in Frazer. Please email me at

Have you tried Cross Stitch?
I am on my second attempt at cross stitch during the pandemic. For my first attempt my pattern was to complicated so I got frustrated. The Fat Quarter Shop has some really cute down loadable cross stitch patterns that are based on quilt patterns, so that there is not has much counting once you get the pattern. I am doing one called "Stronger Together" that is a pattern in honor of Black History Month. It came with a bio of a former slave named Elizabeth Keckley. She was a seamstress for Mrs. Abraham Lincoln. I am now also reading a Jennifer Chiaverini Book called "Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker". Inspired by her story. It is nice to have my reading and handwork go together. Here is a photo of my start on the project. I also added a link to the pattern. The photo also includes a French needle book I bought from Brooklyn Haberdashery a few years ago.
