President's Letter
Ah! It’s June with so much to look forward to do, see, and experience for this summer. What are some of your “summer resolutions?” I’d like to see the beach some more and get at least 5-6 of my UFO’s completed.
We have the Volunteer of the Year to present at the next meeting. If anyone still would like to nominate someone you know, who has done wonderful volunteer works, please let me know.
Our new board members will take office on July 1st. Thank all of you for your commitment to continue to support our guild with your service.
See you soon,
Helen Hofbauer
Programs - Rita Marie Smith and Denise Blake
June- Michele McLaughlin is coming and will be telling us all about The History of the Sunbonnet Quilt Pattern. Michele has been quilting for over 35 years and sewing since she was a child. She is the founder of the Lehigh Valley Quilt Study Group and has a membership in various quilt organizations including the American Quilt Study Group. She has completed various classes in quilt appraisal and history and has a special interest in researching Pennsylvania quilts and makers. Sunbonnets remain one of the most beloved--and maligned--quilt patterns of the 20th century. This lecture is one of her most popular and provides an insight to the development of this quilt pattern. Michele's trunk show features over 50 different examples and demonstrates the versatility and humor this pattern continues to provide quilt makers. Michele will be bringing some sewing themed stationary for purchase and checks and cash are acceptable. Members and guests are encouraged to bring their own sunbonnet quilts for Michele to review and possibly identify the pattern. (newsletter edit: I am sure Bob DeCarli will have many quilts to share)!
This is our last meeting for the year, we don't meet in July. Our next gathering will be on August 12 for our bee. Details to follow in the July newsletter.

Sew Along Update
I will be sending out step 5 with this newsletter just in case someone missed it when I sent out the wrong one earlier this month. Step 6 will come out on June 1st. As summer is always a busy time with all kinds of activities, I will send out step 7 in July but you will have all summer to complete it. We will start step 8 in September. You still may email or call me or Facetime if there is a problem. I will try and help you out so you can keep up.
We are getting towards the end, so if you have fallen behind don't worry you will get there! Right now I am behind too!
Please always remember to bring your quilt for show and tell so we can see how they are progressing!
