President's Letter
Well it’s Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza and any December
holiday I missed time! Have you finished your gift shopping and/or quilting?
Soon it will be the New Year. I pray 2021 will be better than 2020. So far I am
enjoying retirement. I manage to keep myself busy, daily. I have been
experimenting with Sourdough Bread Baking thanks to Maureen who gave me some
starter. I have been making a No Knead
Bread also. It is quick, easy and rises overnight on the counter. There is
nothing like fresh out of the oven bread with olive oil or butter, yum.
Veterans Quilts:
I want to thank Carolyn Davis for all her time assembling and
distributing kits, quilting, obtaining volunteers, donating fabric , batting and
overall organizing of this project. Thank
you to Myrna Paluba and her sister, Maureen
Carlson, Deb Houck, Elaine Egan, Ellen McMillen, Cindy Vognitz, Jen Burke and
Rikki Newlander for their participation in various parts of the veterans quilts
construction ie.. making tops, quilting, binding, donating fabric. To date we
have donated 30 quilts and have approximately 17 more in construction. Way to
go gals!!!!!
We need backing fabric for 4 – 42” square tops. Please
contact me if you can donate fabric.
Holiday Block Swap:
Just a reminder. Please send your completed block to the
person you are making a block for prior to the December meeting. If you are
unable to do this, we can have you show your block during the meeting and you
can mail it later.
Website/Logo:
We now have a new logo and banner. Keep a look out for both
in our newsletter, facebook and website.
I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. Wishing the guild
and their families a Happy New Year as well.
See you at the December meeting.

Programs - Jen Burke
As a reminder, Lynn has asked us to invite a friend to each
of these programs if we can!
In December we will be playing quilto on Zoom. So wear your
favorite ugly sweater (there’s a prize) and plan to have a cocktail or mocktail
and join us for 5 rounds of quilto.
In January, we will have Emily Taylor demonstrate and
lecture about collage quilts. Please join us!
Charity Outreach - Elaine Mayer
Hello Fellow Quilters!
I must start my post with an apology for omitting the Quilts of Valor from my November post, but someone picked up the slack for me and got the job done. We continue to work on these quilts for Main Line Hospice Veterans. There are still kits available. If you don't want to go out, please reach out for a delivery.
We continue working on pillowcases for "A Case For Smiles". Please send your numbers to me of any donations you make so we can have a year end total. We are still participating in the food drive for the Honeybrook Food Pantry. There are several drop off spots as well as St. Peter and Paul Church (the second and fourth Saturday of the month the trailer is there.
Additionally Penn Medicine Home Care is still in need of masks.
A special Thank You to Myrna Paluba who made 10 Chester Bears; I will hold them for a couple weeks in case there are more to add to this collection, before I drop it off at Chester County Hospital. Her great arm waving made it easy for me to pick the bears up last week!
As Lisa Scottoline said in her article in the Sunday Philadelphia Inquirer, consider this year a break from some of the normal stressors brought about by cooking and entertaining large groups.
Wishing you all a lovely Thanksgiving,
Elaine Mayer
Thank You Note from Good Sam

2020 Quilt Guild Challenge - Angela Brant
Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, this is my favorite time of all
Pick a season and make a small quilt or wall hanging that strongly evokes that season
Quilts/wall hangings will be judged by fellow quilt members in several categories:
- Best evokes season
- Best use of color
- Most original
- Best quilting
Basic Rules of the Challenge:
• #1 RULE: HAVE FUN!!! Use your imagination! Your creation can be traditional or contemporary.
• Item Selection: Your challenge must be a small quilt or wall hanging, not a tote bag, pocket book, vest or jacket, etc.
- Finished Size: Your challenge can be any finished size you want.
- • Methods of Construction: You are free to use whatever construction or quilting methods work best for your creation (i.e., machine piece, hand piece, paper piece, machine appliqué, hand appliqué, machine or hand quilt, etc.). We encourage you to challenge yourself and be creative.
• Fabric Requirement: You can use whatever fabrics you want in your challenge. There is also no limit to the total number of fabrics or kinds of fabrics used in your challenge.
• Embellishments: Embellishments are optional.
• Label: Make sure you put a label with your name on the back of your challenge. Give credit to the source that inspired you. Please cover up your label with a piece of paper before handing it in for voting at our guild meeting so it’s a secret as to who made it.
- Due Date: Finished challenges are due at our April, 2020 guild meeting for judging by your quilt guild peers. All guild members attending the meeting will have the opportunity to vote anonymously for their favorite challenge quilt.
- ALL QUILTS ENTERED IN THE CHALLENGE WILL BE DISPLAYED.If you have any questions about the challenge please contact Angela Brant at angelalendenbrant@gmail.com or 484-682-387
