 President's Message

Happy PSL Season (Pumpkin Spice Latte)

We are excited about our October Meeting.  Jen will provide the program details but we are going to experiment this month with a Hybrid Meeting Approach.

The in person meeting will be held at New Location Covenant Presbyterian Church at 7pm on October 11th in the Church Basement.  The church is on Rt. 30:
400 Lancaster Ave, Malvern. It is between Rt. 352 and the
Fraser Mennonite Church.
The speaker will be remote so members from home can join via Zoom.  The church has a projector with a large screen and a camera that sweeps the room so that members at home can view the in person proceedings.  Elizabeth Lane has used this for hybrid book club meetings with success.

Members that attend are required to wear a mask.  This way we can meet the needs of all our members respecting comfort levels and keeping us from passing around the virus.

Please be patient because this is the first time we are trying this but I am excited at the prospect.

Programss

It was so great to see each other in person and be inspired by what you all worked on during the pandemic. It has gotten me back into my craft room, although with work and 4 puppies, not as much as I would like. Someday they won’t attack the yarn and unspool it the way they do now.

For out October meeting we will learning about/reviewing prepared edge applique with our lecturer presenting on zoom.

Sue Glass

Home:  Redondo Beach, California

Sue is a longtime quilter who discovered the way to applique in about 2009 although she has been quilting since the mid 1970’s.  Before that she pieced everything and hoped that no applique would be involved.  Since then, she has discovered the delights and pitfalls of sewing little circles, houses, leaves, stems, and various other items onto her quilts.  Her use of color and pattern gives her quilts their very own personality which she tries to change with each new project.

Prepared Edge Applique is Fun and Easy

Sue will talk about and demonstrate how to use the prepared edge method of applique to achieve those lovely round circles and edges common in her work.  Her lecture includes information on and demonstration of how to prepare your project, make the extra items like bias stems and circles, the use of different basting techniques, and how to set up an applique block to its best advantage.

November brings us Suzi Paron doing a lecture on barn quilts. Should be fun and close to home!

Scraps and Pieces from the Sewing World

In case we haven’t met yet, I’m Cal Franklin, CEO of National Quilters Circle and Craftsy. I’m writing to you today because our team has some exciting news, and we want you to be the first to know.

It is with a warm heart that we officially announce the expansion of the Craftsy brand into Spanish-speaking communities across the globe! After many months of research, testing, and planning, we’re excited to provide access to Craftsy’s extensive variety of classes and projects to our Spanish-speaking friends. Our team has been working hard to translate our best classes and projects from English into Spanish to inspire creativity and connect with our community in a whole new way.

We are thrilled and honored to be able to serve our amazing community of talented makers, crafters, and doers on a new multilingual level. Right now, you can discover over 100 classes that we’re sure you’re going to love across six of our most popular categories in Spanish on our site:
es.craftsy.com

As we continue to grow, our teams will work hard on producing more new classes exclusively in Spanish and we will double the library in the next 12 months.
