May 2017 Newsletter

President's Letter
Spring is here, flowers are blooming and pollen is everywhere!  I hope this isn't bothering your allergies as bad as mine.  I hope it is inspiring you to do some sewing.  I have a bird feeder right outside my sewing room window and it is fun to watch the birds feeding and imagine where their nests are and if they have eggs that are waiting to hatch.

The quilt show is knocking at our door.  If you are able to, I hope you will be able to help out in some way but I also hope you will have time to enjoy the show, learn something new, and be inspired to create something new.

I will hold a board meeting at 6:00 before the May regular meeting. I hope all board members, current and nominated, can attend.  Any other members are welcome as well.

Stephanie Braskey

We had 39 members and 2 guests at the April meeting. Hope to see everyone at the show!!

Paylor. Remember to trade your responsibility with a friend if you can't attend so we don't run short. Also if you have a star after your name* please bring a beverage for the group instead of a snack.

Quilt drop off
Just a little reminder to everyone about timing, etc. for dropping off your quilt(s) for the Quilt Show next week:
Entrants are personally responsible to deliver and retrieve your quilts.  A numbered receipt will be given to you when you drop off your quilt.  Don’t lose this receipt!  You must present that receipt(s) when you come to pick up your quilt.  NO QUILTS WILL BE RETURNED WITHOUT A NUMBERED RECEIPT.

Drop off for the quilts is on Thursday May 4th between 9 am and 10 am.  IF you are helping with set up that day we should be ready to take your quilts at 8:00 am.

Your quilt must have a 4” sleeve firmly basted to the top of your quilt: miniature and small quilts must have a 2” sleeve.   Your quilt will not be hung if it does not have a sleeve.

Label / identification must be on the back of your quilt.   If your quilt is being judged all identification (front and/or back) MUST be temporarily covered with a non-transparent fabric. You must cover the labels prior to bringing to the show.

Pick up:  Quilts must be picked up with the original numbered receipt between 4:30 and 5:30 pm on Saturday May 6th.

See you all on Thursday,
